Madden Concussions

The popular Madden NFL Football Series from EA sports is taking a step toward educating young players.  The Madden NFL 12 edition will have an emphasis put on head injuries in the football simualtion game.  When a player gets a concussion, they will be taken out of the game and not allowed to return for the remainder of the contest.  Also, the game's commentators will vocalize the removal of the player because of the injury.  Developers claim the game will be able to serve as a "teaching tool."

This is a great idea from EA Sports.  Adding head injuries to the game is a simple way to raise awareness of the seriousness of concussions.  It also educates young football players who also play this game about the recovery process for a concussion.  They need to know that if they have a concussion they should not return to action for at least 3 days depending on severity and clearance from a doctor.  Concussions used to be viewed in a "ho-hum" manner, but this along with other regulations has led to head injuries being a hot topic, which it should be, in the football world.
